Congleton’s first Mayor, Philip son of Richard, served in 1318. Next year marks 700 years since the first Mayor of Congleton took up office. The Town Council is keen to celebrate this anniversary and are interested in residents views on how to mark this anniversary.
Ideas being explored include a 700 challenge to businesses, clubs, organisations and schools; a 1318 re-enactment; a Mayoral exhibition in the Town hall; a grand tea party for relatives of ex Mayors; and a medieval banquet?
