Christmas Windows of Congleton- Winners Announced!
Come and see the magnificent Christmas windows in Congleton! 36 shops and businesses entered this year’s Congleton Christmas Window competition, 11 more than last year, making the judging an ‘enjoyable but challenging’ experience!
After much debate the winner was declared as the Cancer Research Shop, in the pedestrian area for its Christmas tree wood, bears and decorations. Second place went to Sugar Plum Hairdressers in Lawton Street for the details and effort in the design and third place to Town Bathrooms, in the High Street, for its overall impact.
Jackie MacArthur, Congleton Town Council’s Town Centre and Marketing Manager said: “It is fantastic that so many shops took up the challenge to dress their windows, making Congleton an even more festive place for residents and visitors. The standard was really high. The Christmas windows, along with the town’s Christmas lights, really add to the atmosphere in town. If you’ve not been in to Congleton town for a while come in and take a look!”
The judges considered the ingenuity of idea, colour, impact and effort, plus a bonus point for those who included a reindeer into the design. The windows were judged independently by four people with results tallied to make the final score.
In addition to the three winners the judges awarded Highly Commended to the following: No 1 West Street, Bulls Head, Cheshire Lady, Congleton Hearing Shop, Butters John Bee, Bryans, Clarities, Gather, High Town Post Office and Innovations. Commended certificates went to Grace Brown Interiors, House to Home, Gallery Hair, The Little Shop, Delia Metcalf Shoes, Barnardos, Mr Simms Sweetie Shop, Age UK, Hair Lounge, Reeds Rain, Salon 29 and Mossley Hair Salon. A further 13 shops were award merit.
