This year, Congleton Town Council has created an E-Christmas Card to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year. Rather than producing a traditional paper card, the council have worked with two local primary schools and invited pictures from the community to create a short environmentally friendly Merry Christmas Congleton video.
Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Margaret Gartside said: “The video represents the ‘fabric of our town’ featuring all walks of the community that make Congleton so special at Christmas time and all year round. Thank you to pupils at Marlfields and Mossley Primary schools for providing the soundtrack. Thanks to everyone who sent in pictures for the project, we have used about 60 of them – you may well recognise some of the people! Thank you to local company Majestical Ltd, for working their magic with the video, especially Chief Dreamer Katie Nuttall who managed the project. I hope everyone enjoys watching it.”
Cllr Gartside continues: “The move to go paperless is in line with the council’s commitment to be more cost effective and ethically responsible. Christmas is often a time of excess; we all spend more. Whether it’s gifts, visits, or meals out. If you send out paper cards, then you will be aware of the cost, time and trees it all takes. The town council have an obligation to reduce its carbon footprint and e-cards are part of the solution for going greener.”

The digital card will be emailed far and wide to care homes, schools, community groups, businesses, civic dignitaries, volunteers, customers, suppliers, shops and other organisations to name but a few.
