This year’s Congleton Jazz and Blues festival is across 20 venues with 67 gigs over the August Bank holiday weekend, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th. We source artists from all over the country to take part, they come from our home town of Congleton, the Midlands and North West, they also come from afar including Cambridge, London, and the North East. There is a wide variety of Jazz from traditional dixieland, american songbook, boogie woogie and big band and all the way to modern Jazz too. For Blues we start in the mississippi delta then we move up to chicago and then on to modern blues rock, touching funk and soul on the way. You will find some bands touch both blues and jazz in their performances, and a few who are singer songwiters or indie/pop to add some variety.
The purpose of the event is to promote our town, to get people from near and far out and about in the town centre and to experience the great community spirit we have in our little town. We kick off with our traditional umbrella march from Congleton Community Garden on Saturday 26th at 1.15pm, if you want to share in the wonderful experience our town has to offer make sure you make it a date in your diary!
