The Ninth Congleton Jazz and Blues Festival takes place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of the August Bank Holiday weekend. We hope you can join in this very popular festival of music and give yourself the Bank Holiday Monday to recharge your batteries or take a walk in the beautiful parkland and countryside in and surrounding our very special town.
This year over two days Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August we have 21 venues which range from cafes and coffee shops, bars and pubs, a Town Centre Heritage site; Congleton Bath House, a brewery, an artists’ cooperative, a community hub and the Town Hall, more than 65 gigs. The music; which varies in Jazz from Traditional Dixieland, Ragtime and Gypsy style Jazz to something more Modern then on to Big Band outfits; our Blues repertoire covers everything from Country Blues taking the journey to Chicago and then all the way to modern Blues and Blues Rock; and there is something falling either side of the Jazz and Blues format where our local bands and artistes provide excellent entertainment. Our Festival artistes hail from all over the country and they also come from around our own town.
Most importantly of course we have a great local community in Congleton and an audience of people from surrounding towns and districts. We welcome everyone to join in this special event and share in the community spirit of good times.
We kick off the festival on Saturday 25th at 1.30pm with our Traditional Umbrella March, please feel welcome to join in, bring your brolly, or we will lend you one of ours. We meet and start from the top of the pedestrian precinct by “Woolies Wall”, and the parade will make its way along the High Street, continuing along Lawton Street then up Colehill Bank toward the Bath House to the opening gig at the Bath House & Physic Garden.
From there on we have music all through the afternoon and evening on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August. Details will be available in the programme, on the website and Facebook!
