Have your Say on the Congleton Neighbourhood Plan – Regulation 16
Local people have until 7.00pm on the 23rd November to get their comments to Cheshire East Council about the Congleton Neighbourhood Plan. After months of refining the plan following the regulation 14 consultation last year, the Congleton Neighbourhood Plan was submitted to Cheshire East Council on the 12th October.
The 82-page document contains proposed policies for Congleton covering housing and types of homes to be built, the town centre, health and well-being, transport, employment, environmental issues including protecting green spaces and green corridors and design. The policies have been developed by a number of themed groups following local consultation and discussions.
Following the consultation the Congleton Neighbourhood Plan team will consider any proposed changes to the plan. The Plan will then go to an Independent Planning Inspector who will spend 4-6 weeks assessing the plan and checking that it is compliant with national policy and local frameworks, is clear and unambiguous, and has been properly made. The Inspector can recommend that various policies are deleted, amended or remain unchanged and may call a public inspection of the plan.
Depending on the outcome of the of the Public Inspectors report, either more work will be needed on the draft Neighbourhood Plan, or the Plan will be deemed fit to go to a public referendum. It is hoped that a referendum could be held in late February 2019. If approved at a Public Referendum the Neighbourhood Plan and the policies within it will need to be taken into consideration when considering future planning applications
