Congleton Town Council’s Commercial Partner, Mark’s Events is supporting members of the community who need help getting through the cost-of-living crisis with a Food & Friendship Club. Owner, Mark Bailey is serving up piping hot meals made with care along with friendly chatter and new connections to nurture relationships and combat isolation.
The free sessions are held twice a week at Bluey’s Bar & Hub (at the front of the Town Hall). Every Monday from 11.30am-1.30pm and every Thursday from 3.30pm-5pm. There is no cost to attend.
Mark said: “The weekly sessions have been running for almost a year now. We have a great bunch of regulars and new attendees are guaranteed a warm welcome any time. Seeing so many residents impacted by the cost-of-living crisis, I wanted to do something to help and give back to our wonderful community. Bringing people together over food makes an impact that ripples outwards, combatting loneliness and creating a sense of belonging. There is no cost to attend – just come as you are. Singles, couples, young and old are all invited to pull up a chair for great grub and company.”
The free sessions are run entirely by volunteers, funded by Mark’s Events and donations from local businesses and organisations. People can just turn up on the day, but ideally advance bookings are preferred to help Mark cater for numbers. To book your free place, phone, or text Mark Bailey on: 07722 008421 or pop into the Congleton Information Centre for more information.
