Gearing up for 5th Green Fayre

Congleton Town Council and Congleton Partnership are gearing up for an even more spectacular Green Fayre on Saturday 28 September, from 10am-4pm. There will be something for everyone at the exciting and educational day taking place in Congleton Town Centre. The closed High Street will be transformed into a vibrant hub of sustainable living, with over 30 stalls showcasing eco-friendly products, services, and hands-on activities for all ages.

The event promises a wide array of free family-friendly experiences. Visitors can enjoy performances by the buzzing ‘Bumble Bees’ spreading the word about biodiversity at 11.30am, 12.30pm, and 2pm, while children can get creative with eco-friendly face painting. Visitors can also check out the latest in green transport, with a display of electric cars. In collaboration with the Congleton Local Policing Unit, there will be free bike marking available from 10am-1pm. Plus the Makers Market in the pedestrian area.

Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Kay Wesley, spoke about the upcoming event: “The Green Fayre is a fantastic opportunity for our town to celebrate sustainable living. We are excited to host a free event that encourages eco-conscious choices and brings the community together in support of a greener future. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore environmentally friendly initiatives, engage with local businesses, and contribute to sustainability efforts. Don’t miss out on this inspiring day of fun and education, together, we can make a difference.”

Inside the Town Hall, attendees will find a bumper Congleton Repair Café, where volunteers will help fix broken items, and a book swap for those looking to refresh their reading list. One of the key attractions will be The Big Clothes Movement, for just £2, visitors can fill a bag with pre-loved clothes, promoting sustainable fashion and reducing waste. Visit the Congleton Museum stall to discover their intriguing ‘Disappearing Nature’ project, which explores how local plant life has evolved over the past century as a result of climate change.

Congleton’s fifth annual Green Fayre is more than just an event—it’s a movement towards a brighter, greener future. Everyone is invited to join in the day of fun, learning, and community spirit.
