Have your say on Car Parking

Congleton residents have until Wednesday 1 November to have their say on the Cheshire East Consultation into Parking Charges. Cheshire East Council is proposing to make the following changes:

  • Overall price increases to hourly tariffs, daily rates and other permits
  • Increase the chargeable times from 9am-5pm to 8am-6pm
  • Parking will still be free on a Sunday
  • Blue Badge Holders will still be able to park for free on all council-managed car parks for an unlimited time period

View the consultation online: Parking reviews and public consultations (cheshireeast.gov.uk) You can also make an appointment to view the proposals at Congleton Library.

Make your thoughts known by emailing: carparksreview2023@cheshireeast.gov.uk or writing to: Parking Services Manager, Parking Services Department, c/o Delamere House, Delamere Street, Crewe, CW1 2LL.

Pre-consultation Congleton Town Council informed Cheshire East it thought Congleton town centre was not in a position to accept higher charges. There are no demand and supply issues, and rather than saving carbon the increase could mean that people drive to other shopping areas with free parking, to the detriment of the town centre. There are currently no adequate easy alternatives to the car for many people.
