The Congleton Town Mayor’s Civic Awards are now open for nominations, recognising outstanding volunteers who make a significant impact in the Congleton community. The new scheme launched this Spring by Congleton Town Council, aims to honour those who dedicate their time and energy to improving life in Congleton without financial reward.
Members of the public are encouraged to nominate individuals who have gone above and beyond to contribute to the town. Whether supporting a community group, leading a local project, or giving their time to a charitable cause, these volunteers are the heart of Congleton. The closing date for nominations is 18 April 2025.
The awards will be presented by the Town Mayor at a special ceremony, as part of the Annual Town Meeting on 15 May 2025. Recipients will receive a certificate and a commemorative lapel pin badge.
The six main award categories are:
- Community Involvement Award
- Young Volunteer Award (under 25)
- Art and Culture Award
- Environment Award
- Wellbeing Award
- Good Neighbour Award
A special Unsung Hero Award will also be presented at the discretion of the judging panel.
Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Kay Wesley shared her excitement on getting the new initiative off the ground: “The Civic Awards provide us with the opportunity to celebrate the incredible work being done by volunteers who often go unnoticed. These individuals make a real difference to our community, and I am honoured to celebrate their efforts. I encourage everyone to nominate someone who has made a positive impact on their lives and the lives of others in Congleton.”
The Civic Awards are an important opportunity to highlight the value of local volunteers, and the Town Council urges everyone to get involved and submit nominations before the deadline on 18 April 2025.
