Pedal Power Comes to Congleton

As part of the Olympic celebrations local people have the opportunity to test out their pedal power at a free ‘Come and Try It Cycle Time Trial’ event organised by Congleton Cycling Club on Thursday 7th June.
The club is challenging local people to try out a 2.5 mile circuit against the clock at Brereton Heath Country Park. The event lasts from 6.30pm – 8.30pm and cyclists just need to turn up and register on the day.
To add a bit of competition there will be limited edition Team Congleton Gold, Silver and Bronze medals awarded to the fastest women and men in each of three categories – under 15s, under 18s and seniors. All entrants must be over 12 years old.
A Congleton Cycling Club spokesman said: “The Cycle Time Trials are intended to be a bit of fun with a competitive edge. Most people have no idea how fast they can cycle – so we are encouraging people to come down with their bikes and give it a go…you could end up gaining yourself one of the 18 medals up for grabs!”
For those who prefer a more sedate cycle, Congleton Cycling Club is organising a family cycle ride on Saturday 9th June. The ride will leave Congleton Rugby Club at 2pm and cycle along the Biddulph Valley Way. This event is expected to last until 3.30pm.
There will be further opportunities to try out your cycling skills at the It’s a Knockout Fun day in the Park on Sunday 10th

June where the club is organising a Cycling Obstacle Course.
