The Cairngorm Reindeers and Father Christmas will make a welcome return to Congleton on Saturday (17 December) to join in the Christmas festivities. The reindeer were a huge attraction in 2010 – and organisers hope that even more people will come to Congleton to see these majectic creatures this year.
The four male reindeer and two calves will be in a pen at teh top the the Pedestrian area from 1pm – 4pm. Their handlers will be available to answer questions and explain about caring for these wild animals. The Cairngorm reindeer are the UKs only free roaming herd and for most of the year can be seen in the Scottish Cairngorm mountains.
The visit has been organised by Congleton Town Council and Congleton Community Projects and made possible thanks to sponsorship by Congleton Town Council, Cheshire East Council, Scarborough Developement, Prism Total IT Solutions and Plus Dane Neighbourhood Investor.
Town Centre Manager, Jackie MacArthur, said: “We had an overwhelmingly positive response to having the reindeer in town last year, and we are delighted to be able towelcome them back. We have many large shopping destinations close to Congleton, so we wanted to bring something extra to Congleton to encourage people to stay local and shop local. We hope that lots of poeple will come to town and feel some Christmas magic by seeing the reindeers..”
