Team Congleton Grants available for future Congleton stars!
Talented Congleton youngsters dreaming of competing at future Olympics are being offered a helping hand by Team Congleton and its sponsors.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals Team Congleton is able to offer several grants worth £250 and two worth £500 to future sports stars and one grant worth £500 for a talented youngster who is making an outstanding contribution to the cultural life of town and has ambitions to progress further.
Applicants need to be aged 18 or under on the 1 September 2012 and live in CW12. On the application form they will need to give their current achievements, aims and ambitions, with supporting evidence given by either their club or school. Completed application forms need to be returned to Team Congleton in the Town Hall by the 17th September.
Chairman of Team Congleton, John Doe said: “Team Congleton wants to help Congleton youngsters reach their potential. We recognise that it takes a lot of hard work, effort and commitment to reach the next level – and that transition from club to County or Regional level is often very difficult. We hope these grants will help inspire and encourage our youngsters as well as help towards the cost of equipment, travel expenses, competition costs, coaching fees etc. We are very grateful to all the businesses, organisations and individuals who have made this scheme possible.”
Demand for grants is expected to exceed the number of grants available and so all applications will be assessed by an expert panel made up of people from the Congleton sporting community (and artistic community for the cultural award). Anyone related to the panel or Team Congleton will not be eligible to apply.
The awards will be given out at the Congleton Sports Awards night in the Town Hall on the 27th September. The lucky recipients of the grants will be expected to send at least three letters to their sponsors over the course of the year.
