Congleton Town Council, in partnership with People and Places Insight, is undertaking a comprehensive review of Congleton Town Centre as part of a benchmarking study funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund under the Government’s Levelling-up initiative. This research aims to assess town centre performance and identify opportunities for future development and investment.
The review follows a two-pronged approach, gathering insights from both the general public and town centre businesses. Two dedicated surveys have been launched—one for residents and visitors and another for local traders—to capture a broad range of opinions and experiences. The results will play a key role in shaping regeneration projects, attracting funding, measuring the impact of events, and planning future initiatives that will benefit Congleton.
Public Survey: Share Your Views
Congleton Town Council is keen to hear from all members of the community—whether they are frequent visitors, occasional shoppers, or no longer use the town centre. The survey takes just two minutes to complete, and all responses will remain anonymous. Feedback will contribute to a Final Report that will guide future improvements.
Deadline: 24th March 2025. Complete the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CongTCU25
Business Survey: Supporting Local Traders
For businesses, the survey will focus on the Business Performance and Confidence Key Performance Indicator (KPI). By establishing the current trading conditions within Congleton, stakeholders can focus on building on strengths and addressing challenges, ensuring a thriving town centre.
Congleton Town Council has emailed town centre businesses with details of the survey and an electronic link to participate. If any businesses have not received this email, they are still encouraged to take part by completing the survey online.
Deadline: 24th March 2025. Business owners can complete their survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CongBCS25
Mike King, Director of People and Places Insight, emphasised the importance of community participation: “Town centres thrive when they reflect the needs of the people who use them. By sharing your views, whether as a visitor or business owner, you can help shape Congleton’s future. This research is a crucial step in making informed decisions that will drive investment and improvement in the town.”
The final Benchmarking Report, incorporating the survey findings, will be available by the end of March 2025. For further information or inquiries, please contact Mike King at 07788 286337 or mike.king@people-places.co.uk.
